Michigan Man Claims Electrocution from Faulty Lamp at Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas

A Michigan man is making headlines after claiming that he was electrocuted by a faulty lamp while staying at the Luxor Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. The incident allegedly occurred on November 26, 2023, when David Van Horn, a former public school teacher from Michigan, reached out to turn on a lamp in his hotel room. According to Van Horn, he was “suddenly and violently thrown,” causing him to hit his head, knock over a chair, and fall to the floor.

Van Horn claims that the electric shock left him with severe pain, a traumatic brain injury, and other ongoing health issues, including memory loss, dizziness, and speech impediments. These injuries ultimately forced him to retire early from his teaching career.

The incident raises concerns about hotel safety and the responsibility of property owners to ensure safe conditions for their guests. Hotels are expected to regularly inspect and maintain their premises, including electrical fixtures and appliances, to prevent accidents and injuries.
